My first Phantasy Star serie game and it's surprisingly good.

I never really played any series of Phantasy Star to begin with.
I had no clue at all what kinda of game PhantasyStar was.

The story is interesting and really great eventho i didn't play Phantasy Star one to understand the whole story. For people that can't read or understand Japanese might get tired of the main quest cut scenes and dialogues, which might be missing a great content of the game, mixed with drama and funny moments.

The game play its the casual hack 'n slash action RPG, if you played Monster Hunter then its simple put, dont gather monster pieces to craft your equipments tho, but other hand it bring alot more content than Monster Hunter. Of course, it has a story, not just go out and slay monster one after another. It has level, class and race, i believe its a must for any RPG.

There's 4 races, i belive its the same classes from other Phantasy Star series: Human, Newman, Beast and CAST. Followed by 4 classes: Hunter, Ranger, Force, Brave. You can change your current class anytime once in the game.
There's no class-oriented weapon nor skill, you can use all of them if you have enough point on the weapon rank. The weapon points can be placed and replaced as in get rank A on sword and then if you want change to claw, you can downgrade the rank and get back your points to add on the claw rank. The rank range from C to S.

Equipments varies alot, from the most common ones like swords, axes, bows, staves to twin's types(double wielders) to guns and whip.

The controls are easy to get used, quick menus and shortcut order/chat is really nice when you are playing on the multiplayer. The game has the target lock on so its easy to aim the monsters, it doesnt mean that it makes quests a piece of cake tho.

There's 3(4) types of missions: Story, Free, Extra and then the last one is not really a mission, you can trade items from ETC's you get from monster drops and doing free mission quests, etc.
There are tree planets you can choose to do the Free and Extra missions. Ranging from the level and rank, higher the rank, higher the level of monsters.

The music is ok, the sound fx are good. The music theme is the casual anime j-pops which doesnt fit my liking. Some goes just for the beats, but i'm more for both lyrically and melodically. It's not bad, but it's not great if you are not a j-pop fan.

I wasn't excepting much on the graphics but after playing it and seeing it on my PSP screen, its pretty good, well, i'm a person who goes more for the game play and not for the graphic, so for people in need of some candy-eye i belive, its average.

Overall, the game has alot to offer, you might even "waste" some time customizing your character and go gather more money just to make your perfect character outlook. Or maybe go hunt all the rare drops to complete the list. Or might as well be busy design "your room".

Great game.
