Feeling like Gold

User Rating: 9 | Persona 4 Golden PC

Story was one of the best. This has got to be the most emotional frequently in a game ever. Oh my god, December 3rd! I lost it. I had to walk away from the pc for a few minutes with a red face and tears streaming down. That’s not the only spot but that was the most intense I felt throughout the game. I immediately, without realizing it, connected to the characters. I cared for all of them. There were times I wanted to smack Yosuke upside the back of his head but I wanted to protect all of them and know that they were going to be ok. Rise is the best waifu ever. The character designs are all fantastic, especially all the persona designs. The voice acting isn’t perfect but it’s respectable and adorable. They really got into their characters and put their own personality in it which made me appreciate it and enjoy it more. Probably one of the best soundtracks in any anime game alongside with Nier Automata and Katamari Damacy. I never got tired of listening to any track. I never minded to hum or sing along to any of it. Listening to the song in the credits gave me goose bumps. Great game to listen to and look at. Gameplay, well...that’s another story. It’s your usual turn-based rpg dungeon crawler. Nothing really exciting going on combat wise. What really sucks is that you have no control over what the members in your party do. I could’ve hit the enemy with an element they’re weak to and took off half their health only for, let's say Teddie, to hit the enemy with the element they’re strong to and have it either heal them or have the attack reflected back into Teddie’s face nearly killing him. It does seem like they do learn over time what element to attack with but there are still too many times they do the dumbest thing possible. The dungeons take a little too long. The Japanese high schooler simulator part of the game it really good. The turn-based rpg dungeon crawler part is mediocre. Well worth the $20 for 100 hours worth of story and content.
