I trust a Squaresoft game like a true FFVII fan would agree. And this one doesn't disappoint as much as most people say.
The awkwardly quiet ambience tends to give me the creeps last time and the techno soundtrack actually made it worse, but the innovative concept and story kept me going forward. The main story campaign itself may be a little short to really satisfy a horror survival fan but the real juice happens at the bonus stage at the second play-through. This is where Parasite Eve shines. It consists of a 100 level mix of labyrinth dungeon crawl and boss fights per 10 levels. Very hard in my opinion but quite satisfying too since it nets you cool equipment to tamper with and a new ending. You only have to play a while through the main storyline again to unlock this special stage, so it wouldn't be a big deal if you want the challenge fast.
Of course, Parasite Eve has quite a few gameplay design flaws which could make it a superb game but it's still a PSOne classic in my collection simply because of its innovative blend of genre.
