A cool, different, original little game

User Rating: 7.5 | Papers, Please PC
When i think of things that are fun, riveting, thoughtful and entertaining...well, stamping passports in a communist bloc country doesnt exactly top the list. The point and click world of Papers, Please is where fun and entertainment meet the mundane and occasionally disturbing. You shuffle papers, you stamp papers, you examine papers. yep...papers. The title does this game justice. As the days go by and people start to talk, you get a sense that something larger is going on here, and the game pulls you in with an interesting story that keeps you wondering what the hell is going to happen next (hint: its usually not good). The addiction factor is very high here. A few gripes, tho; the amount of money you earn is based on how many people you correctly process...this is easy enough on the first days but soon becomes very challenging as the game continues to throw more rules, regulations, and special steps at you that MUST be followed to the letter. You only have a certain amount of time to process people before the time clock signals the end of the day. Anyone processed after the six oclock cutoff (or processed incorrectly) will not count for daily earnings. Again, this is fine in the early stages, but money quickly becomes more and more scarce as admission processes become more and more complex. The slightest discrepancy can mean the difference between feeding your family and letting the poor bastards starve to death. Also, the timer is extremely unforgiving.

Well anyway, its not without a few kinks, but its still a cool, unique and fun indie game. Absolutely check it out.
