Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is not only one of the best games for the Saturn but also one of the best games out there today.

The gameplay is simple, the game is short, and you'll only use two buttons through the entire game but these things are what make this game so much fun.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei takes place before the original Panzer Dragoon and tells the story of how the dragoons all came about. In a fantasy world called Machinia dragoons called Khourieats are killed if they are born with a blue-white glow in their throats because they are feared to be 'bad omens.' After discovering that his dragoon has this blue-white glow, Lundi; the character you play as decides not to kill it because it has wings. A year later his village is destroyed by The Empire who are a technologically advanced people that go around conquering other lands. Big mistake. Lundi vows to get revenge on The Empire and with his dragoon Lagi and they fly off to take on The Empire. Lagi's blue-white glow in his throat is not just for show either, it shoots out beams of energy that destroy everything. Using that and a pretty powerful gun that Lundi has, you fly off to get your revenge. And thats where the game kicks off. The game is short, which is probably the only bad thing about the game but you'll find yourself playing through this game more than once.

You'll never have to move Lagi in a certain direction, your path is basically set for you. All you have to do is aim and shoot at whatever's attacking you. Its simple, yet very entertaining. You'll be shooting at all sorts of unique and creative enemies from every angle. Boss fights at the end of each level make it a little challenging but for the most part the game is easy. After each level you'll receive a score, depending on how high it is wil determine whether your dragoon evolves or not. You want it to evolve as much as possible, for it grows stronger every time it evolves. The graphics in today's standards aren't that impressive but im not basing them off of today's standards. For its time (which was 10 years ago) they are very, very good. The imaginative world and creatures also give the game a very unique look.

Overall, the game is a lot of fun and is still one of my favorites. For those that have never played this game, I feel sorry that you'll probably never get to experience this classic game since Sega Saturns are pretty hard to find these days. But trust me on this, this game is better than many games out there today. It would be great if Sega decided to release this or any classic panzer dragoon game on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Sure it would be a big file, and probably cost a little extra, but im sure it would be a big seller. A next-gen Panzer Dragoon wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is not only one of the best games for the Saturn but also one of the best games ever.
