Pac man still looks good for his age...

One really has to wonder sometimes how Gamespot reviews Xbox live 360 Arcade games. Some of the low scores like with graphics almost seems to compare the arcade games with the bigger games on the full 360 version. If this is so it makes no sense what so ever. Gamespot used to claim it based it reviews on what each system alone was capable of and if that is the case arcade games should be compared with arcade games alone. Take Pac Man in hd- graphics wise. It susprisingly looks sharpe and cool on my 50 inch sony LCD tv. I was a bit5 dissapointed with Namco with their Galaga presentation but that totally improved with Pacman- from the sharp menus to the ancient but polished game graphics to the steller pac man background that will knock you down with its boldness this game is presented well! True the controls come off sluggish at first- but once you get used to how the 360 analogue stick works with the game you will find yourself at home. Tho' I would not suggest trying to use the D pad to control- it does indeed come off as way too stiff. Some of the Acheivments are a bit too easy to get and that is a shane because the game is so old and so many people are already going to be vets with it I think it would have been reasonable for it to have had more hardcore acheivments. Still it does have a couple that will tax your skill. And in the end lets face it- the leaderboards highscore along with compeating with your friends list are the real acheivmnets with Live Arcade games. You will have endless fun trying to break that top 1000, 100 or top 10 rank. I downloaded Pacman without even using the trail and I am not dissapointed in any way. It is one of the better looking classic titles on the 360. I also wonder that if they had changed it to a non arcade perfect edition and added a few half assed multiplayer options that would certianly have felt forced if gamespot would not have griped just as much in the end. Give this games free trial a shot- you have nothing to loose.
