Although it has its moments, this title is a disappointment in the long run.

First off, I must inform you, the reader, that I will make no reference to the movie since I have not watched it. So I will solely speak about Over the Hedge, the game.

In Over the Hedge, you play as a group of animals. You have a turtle, a raccoon, a squirrel, and a skunk. You play through a series of missions which, for the most part, involve breaking into humans' houses, stealing food and appliances, and breaking all sorts of items throughout the house. Maybe this wasn't the creators' intention, but these animals certainly seem like jerks. After playing the game for one hour, you'll see that the aforementioned is pretty much all you'll be doing. In the midst of all of this, you must also brawl against hordes of crazed rats and other vermin. Aside from that, there's really not much else to do, so this game gets boring really fast. There are a few mini-games that you can unlock, and the only fun one is the Bumper Cars, but even that gets old after a while.

Graphically, the Over the Hedge team knew what they were doing. The character models and levels are all well-designed, and the textures are smooth and colorful. The music in this game is, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst music in a video game. You'll hear "action movie" music blaring loudly throughout each level, and after five minutes of listening to it, you'll want to lower the volume on your tv. The character voices actually work well, and they usually say things that are pretty funny.

Over the Hedge is, for the most part, a disaster. It has its moments (mainly the cutscenes), and it can be fun at times, but it gets boring in hardly no time at all. If you're looking for a good game, this is definitely not it.
