Having only 23 days to go until it's release, it's safe to say that the hype is real for the upcoming survival-horror game, "Outlast 2".

Set in the isolated canyons of Arizona, we're going to take on the role of Blake Langermann, a cameraman working with his wife, Lynn. The two are investigative journalists who are digging for clues surrounding the death of pregnant woman named Jane Doe.

The horror begins when the chopper you've decided to take crashes beside a village named Temple Gate, founded by religious fanatic Sullivan Knoth, who resides in the village with his cult of psychopaths.

From the demo, which was available from October to November 2016, we've already had some interesting insight into what we're going to be faced with, however the game's developer, Red Barrels, have claimed that it only shows a small portion of what's to come in the full release...

Along with the demo, many screenshots from Outlast 2 have been posted by Red Barrels, including the one above which shows a victim pinned to a tree, a creature in the corner and a rather tall man walking off into the distance with what seems to be a mutated baby on his shoulder.

Along with the game's run up to release, "The Murkoff Account", a series of comics which bridge the gap between the first Outlast and it's upcoming successor, has proved to give fans both an interesting story and a boost of hype for it's April 25th release.

Recently, Australia's Classification Board had banned Outlast 2 for it's graphic content, but have since revoked the decision due to a mistake which was summed up with the following statement by Red Barrels:

“The original submission of Outlast 2 sent to the Australian Classification Branch contained the final game code and a video file for reference taken from an Alpha version of the game. This video file should not have been sent along with the game code, as its content was not representative of the final game.

“In the second submission, the same game code was submitted with a video file reflecting the final game content. The game was then approved for release with an R18+ rating. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide.”

I think it's safe to say that we're glad Australian fans get the same experience as the rest of the world!

An interesting mechanic coming the the new game is the ability to re-watch the footage you've recorded with the infamous camcorder as the protagonist narrates - something which could prove very interesting indeed...

The movement system has also been reworked - the ability to slide and swim provide new ways to escape your pursuers. However, in the first game hiding under beds would be a simple click of the button and the animation plays, but in Outlast 2, you're going to have to crawl under manually, hope you have time and pray to god that they don't spot you!

Outlast 2 comes out on PC, Xbox ONE and Playstation 4 on April the 25th along with Outlast Trinity, a physical collection of Outlast, Outlast: Whistleblower and Outlast 2 for Xbox ONE and Playstation 4.
