ashamed I actually purchased this game ..

One of the worst games of all time

I am a huge fan of FPS games - and have pretty much played every single one since the days of Wolfenstein and Duke Nuke'Em - but there was one FPS title that I had never explored - Operation Flashpoint - so when I saw it on the shelves at the gaming store I decided to give it a whirl. I had heard good tings about the first operation flashpoint game so I figured buying this one would be a safe bet ...

Well that was a huge mistake - this game has got to be one of the worst titles I have ever played on a current generation console - absolutely lame. Right off the bat you are greeted with sub-par graphics and poor design .. the details are poor , the color is way over saturated , and for the most part the game looks like an old PC shooter from the early nineties , complete with sketchy digital edges and textures that randomly pop in and out of existence.

Before you toss this one in your console grab a bowl of chips and a book - as you will spend far more time watching the poor quality cut-scenes and listening to insanely stupid macho G.I talk than you will playing any sort of video game. When you do finally get into the action pars of the game - prepare to be let down. You r team-mates are supposed to follow your orders - but rather than listening to you they walk around aimlessly , strolling into your line of fire , not taking cover , or even just running off into the distance.... wow. In a game that requires you to command your squad .. well - BLEW IT!

During the campaign I was continuously greeted with randomly appearing objects. Whole trees , rocks , buildings and even enemies will just appear out of nowhere. And I think their might be some sort of glitch when it comes to climbing or interacting with objects in the game - that or the developers need to sharpen their pencils a bit...

The online for this game was hideous - absolutely terrible. The maps were dull and boring and empty , the buffering time and insane load times for the online make it a chore to just get into a match - and of the dozen or so matches I attempted to join I only actually saw one shot fired - and that was some idiot on my team shooting me! I did not even see an single enemy in all my attempts to play this online ...

Ultimately this has to be the worst first person shooter I have ever played. If you are going to make an FPS for this generation of consoles then put some effort into it. This title lacks in every single department - poor graphics , lame content , crappy AI , poor color , bad textures , lame maps , terrible online , even the menus are annoying with that poorly-executed overly-implimneted digital glitch 'effect'.

HOw anyone could rate this game as 'awesome' or 'brilliant' is totally beyond me. I have played all the games you can compare this too and cannot believe that anyone at all would consider this game to be good in any way to any degree ... After reading the positive reviews I am just stunned - and figure that those people must work for the developers or something.

To illustrate how poor this game is - I called the game store up the morning after buying this to see what the trade-in value was .. I keep all my games but this one was so bad I didn't even want it in my house - and ya know what? the dude at the game store had also played the game and he felt so sorry for me for paying full price for such a lame title that he allowed me bring it back and exchange it - even though he wasn't really supposed to do that. He knew the game sucked and didn't want to see me have to deal with owning such a gutter game. I traded it in for Red Faction Armageddon - which is a million times more playable and fun than Operation Flashpoint Red River.

honestly I bought this game because I grew up on the Red River . Last time I buy a game for that kinda reason. . .
