OFP: Dragon Rising is not for all, but for military junkies...IT'S AMAZING!

I will keep this simple..this game does have a few bugs and flaws...like almost every game. This game is also the most amazing shooter I've played. Realistic, fun, replayable, lots of content. It has moments in almost every game session where I get up and shout from excitement. The single player is long and deep, lots of varied missions..but IMO the multiplayer is where it shines. First of all, get some guys that know how to play or learn together and don't play much with random people. The difference in how fun it is is a direct result of your team.

I have tried rescue missions to go rescue a human teammate after they get shot down in a helicopter behind enemy lines, I've called in for air support from friends and watched as the enemies I spotted are tore apart from rockets or mini gun bullets from a strafing attack helicopter. This is the only game I know where the things that are single player missions in other games, they can be played out by you and your buddies in multiplayer. It is the most tactical game around on consoles. If the idea of walking an extra 10 minutes to flank around a dangerous area for a better line of sight doesn't sound fun..this game may not be fun to you. There is a lot of grunt work like walking for a long distance, or waiting for another squad to get in position. But it's lots of action also, like being attacked by a helicopter and watching as a friendly SAM rises towards it and blows it out of the sky, then passing the smoking wreckage 20 mins later as you continue to move around the huge island. Any explosion on the battlefield leaves a huge smoke column that remains for over 20 mins till it fizzles down to a hunk of burnt, twisted metal. The draw distance is crazy...with binoculars you can spot big targets from over 1000 meters away, and some weapons can go that far. What game lets you snipe with a Barrett .50 Cal and hit targets from 700 meters away?
Limbs are detached, bodies blown into chunks, and damage is realistic as far as leg wounds disable sprinting, etc. I've been on a big ridge overlooking enemies so far away, I need a friend with his binoculars out to spot for me, getting ranges, and adjusting my shots for me, it's THAT true to life! Tanks, APC's, Humvees, and boats are just some of the vehicles you can pilot. If you want the closest thing to real war..OFP is your answer.
