Fighting in Feudal Japan Can Be Fun

User Rating: 8.5 | Onimusha: Warlords PS2
In this beginning of the series game, Onimusha takes the gamer on a ride with a samurai who is fighting against all types of demons to save a princess. While the story sounds familiar, its been done dozens of times, the game play and graphics on this game are fantastic. It was in this game that I learned the concept of prudence with items.

Although it might seem simple, but in most games, gamers should avoid using up health items unless absolutely necessary as they become hard to find. After playing the game for a while, I truly understood this concept. The health items were tough to find, at best, and I was glad I was so frugal. Once I finally made it to the final boss battles, having more health instead of less made those battles manageable instead of near-impossible.

While the story wasn't great, it was good, and while the game play was fun, the controls were a challenge here and there. Overall, this was a really fun game, though little more than a glorified mashing game. For it's time, it was amazing.
