Oni is a third Person Shoot 'em up/Roaming Beat 'em up where you play as Konoko, a special agent who works for the Technological Crimes Task Force or TCTF, who's role is to keep the world safe from criminal harm, namely the Criminal organisation, the Syndicate. At first, controlling Konoko takes a bit of getting used to but after about 30 minutes you'll have no problem. The gameplay is nice and varied with a wide range of both weapon and hand-to-hand combat actions. The only downsides of the game is that at times the difficulty curve is very uneven and that on occasion the game suffers from slowdown especially if there is a lot of enemies on screen at the time. Also, the graphics can be a little bland at times (although the anime cut scenes are rendered beautifully). Despite these flaws, Oni is a fun game that's worth checking out if you are looking for something that's challenging and original.
