One Piece Fans Rejoice! A surprisingly good licensed title!

User Rating: 8.7 | One Piece: Grand Adventure GC
Licensed games generally et and deserve a bad rep. However One Piece Grand Adventure proves that licensed games can work as long as they are made faithfully to the source material. 24 playable characters cover all of the major heroes and villains through the Skypeian arc as well as over 50 support characters. The moves are faithful to the show so most of the signature moves are present. The game is graphically pleasing for a GC game and remains true to the art style of One Piece. The game plays like a brawler and while simple, provid3es plenty of fun. The Grand Adventure mode allows you to pick one of five different captains for your pirate crew and you will travel through a world map fighting enemies and recruiting new crew members. Also this follows an RPG style leveling system so your characters become stronger through fighting.
Grand Battle mode is a fun MP mode with many different game styles from standard brawl, tournament, an arena mode, and a mini game collection. There is a Treasure section which provides you with any character bios, voices, items, and music tracks that you have unlocked. through Arena mode you can unlock cards from the one piece trading card game that you can view. There are a few down sides to the game, however. First and foremost is a lack of a Japanese voice track so you must suffer through some lame voice acting. Also it would be nice if the brawls would be four player. unfortunately it is limited to two and you can't put AI characters in either.
Aside from this I would recommend this game to any One Piece fan or to any fan of Power Stone.
