Better than you'd think

User Rating: 8.2 | Nitro Family PC
Definitely a different departure than Serious Sam, but has some of the expected mechanics of SS. The basic "story" is intensely formulaic - your kid is kidnapped and it's up to you (in the form of the "family" team) to wreck the bad guys plans and to get your kid back.

The levels are interesting, sometimes downright cool in their detail and concept, although several are so restrictively on rails that user involvement (other than the "fire" button) is nonexistent.

As stated by another reviewer, I thought that the "reward" of sexytime with the arms dealer was way off the map - especially considering the "family" nature of the game in all other respects. It's handled in a silly way, and IS funny, but it's so totally weird as part of the story.

Bottom line - I had fun - most of the game is really well done - and the parts that are slapped on are few and forgettable. I'd recommend it as a fast cheap romp, it has most of the elements you'd want in an enjoyable game.
