Unfunny, uninspiring, unbelievable and truly awful game.

User Rating: 4 | NIER PS3
Playing something as bad as Nier gives you an immediate perspective on games such as; Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Demon's Souls, etc. You realize that those games are actually good... they tell a coherent story that is engaging... the environments are lush and plentiful. Nier was horrendous.

Sound 3/10: Hope you like bad voice acting (saying one word like, "Yo" followed by dialogue at the bottom of the screen). Music in the open world is they typical Japanese girl singing followed by techno mall music. Unless you are some Hello Kitty fan I don't see how you would think this appropriate. Also, before you even push the start button to fire the game up for the first time, some chick starts laying F-bombs! No joke, it was unreal.

Graphics 5/10: Typical PS2 with a slight shadowing upgrade. The landscape is bland and flat textured with the occasional "grass." Player movement keeps up nicely with the graphics, but the entire world from the buildings to the people are PS2.

Gameplay 5/10: Just bad. You have one speed... jogging. Sword moves are fine and eventually you get some magic, but it's uninspiring. You drown in water, but can jump 100ft and lose no health.

Overall, the quests are bad and simply juvenile..."go get 3 pieces of mutton." I would pick this game up for a ten year old boy if it wasn't for the swearing. Otherwise, if you're an adult or even 16+ you'll have no use for this game. Pay the extra cash and play a mans game that tells a better story, has better environments and quests. Thank god for gamefly because this was an awful experience.
