Nexuiz has the raw speed of Quake III Arena and the tricked-out weapon functionality of Unreal Tournament. For FR

Nexuiz at a surface level is a fast paced arena action game that is tricked out with levels, game modes and nice array of weapons complete with alternate functions of their own.
Up until now Nexuiz has more or less had the same weapon models, now there are two distinct versions of the game...

Nexuiz 2.4 and Nexuiz 2.5

The funny thing about Nexuiz is that it's made from an engine derived from id Software's Quake Engine. When you take a look a the games audio visual quality you will notice it looks pretty amazing on it's default settings, easily comparable to Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament 2004. But when you crank up the settings on the "Effects" page this game looks stunning and is quited demanding, especially for any open source game. Considering Alien Trap made this game with their Dark Places engine which was a significantly modified Quake engine, you can see how much this engine has evolved.

Looking at Nexuiz 2.4 you see a game that has only seemed to add a few extra maps and a whole tonne of modes to playing. The one thing that hasn't seem to change is the array or weapons and the cast of characters to choose from.
Now when you look at the character selection doesn't offer all that many to choose from, but that becomes of little consequence when compared to rest of the detail packed into Nexuiz. 2.4 and it's predecessors have always seem to have the same nine weapons.

Laser, Shotgun, Machinegun, Mortar, Electro, Crylink, Nex, Hagar, Rocket Launcher.

With the newly release version 2.5 the majority of Nexuiz's weapons having being overhauled with new models and sounds, Alien Trap has thrown in four new toys for your violent destructive pleasures.

The Rifle, The Heavy Laser Assault Cannon (HLAC), Minstanex and the TAG Seeker.

Both major versions will offer you nice selection of deathmatch and team deathmatch modes along with an assortment of team oriented play modes with version 2.5's Race mode. To top that all off you have mutators to makes the games more interesting.

To sum it all up Nexuiz is an arena action game that will look good on any of today's PCs, whether it's Custom running Windows or Linux, even a MAC. In my opinion Nexuiz is one of Open Source's best looking games on the scene.
