TOKYO - At the Under Cover announcement and unveiling, Tadahiko Hirose, vice president of Sega Enterprises, revealed more information about Dreamcast in Japan, as well as details concerning the upcoming overseas launch of the system.

When he was asked about Dreamcast's situation in Japan, he wasn't shy speaking about his future sales targets. He said that Sega is expecting to ship 2 million Dreamcast by the summer and says he actually wants to see shipments of 3.5 million to 4 million by the end of December. But he admitted that perhaps that's too optimistic. Sega's expectation of shipping 4 million units by the end of the next fiscal year may also be seen as too optimistic by some people.

He also commented about some of the launch titles for the overseas release of Dreamcast. He named Virtua Fighter 3tb, which will be enhanced in some ways over the Japanese version (everyone cheer now), Sonic Adventure, and Sega Rally 2 as specific titles. The overseas launch of Dreamcast is scheduled for sometime this fall.
