Activision outlines Call of Duty: Ghosts next-gen upgrade plans
Activision outlines the various ways to upgrade an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts to an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 copy.
Activision has announced full details on how to upgrade current-gen copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
For a limited period, all physical PlayStation 3 copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts will include a code that, when redeemed, will allow players to purchase a digital PlayStation 4 copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts for $10/£10/€10. Digital copies purchased on the PlayStation Store will be automatically eligible for the upgrade. Copies must be purchased and codes redeemed before March 31, 2014.
Activision adds that Game in the UK and GameStop in European markets, but not in North America, will run specific offers that allow customers to upgrade their physical PlayStation 3 copy to a physical PlayStation 4 copy for roughly £10/€10.
There's also Microsoft's Game Ahead program, which offers up digital copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox 360 and another for the Xbox One in a single package, at a suggested retail price of $69.99.
Customers buying the Xbox 360 copy digitally from the Xbox Live Marketplace can also upgrade to the Xbox One version for $10.
Retailer-specific promotions to upgrade the Xbox 360 to Xbox One versions are also available at GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, and the Microsoft Store in North America, Game in the UK, and GameStop in European markets.
Additionally, Activision adds that buying a Call of Duty: Ghosts season pass before May 31, 2014, will include a next-gen upgrade for current-gen owners. The season pass costs $49.99/£34.99/€49.99 and also includes four DLC map packs and the Team Leader digital content pack, which features exclusive multiplayer customisation options.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released on November 5 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will follow at launch.
