EA confirms Godfather March launch

An Electronic Arts representative has addressed recent rumors surrounding one of its higher-profile properties, confirming for GameSpot that the Corleone family is going global at the end of March. That's the time frame EA has pinned for its worldwide PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox release of The Godfather, the game based on Francis Ford Coppola's epic mafia film.

Coppola himself has publicly expressed his distaste for the project, but a handful of the film's stars, including Marlon Brando, James Caan, and Robert Duvall, all provided voice work for the game. However, there is some doubt as to whether Brando's contributions, made shortly before the actor's death and reportedly of poor quality, will make it into the game.

While current-gen console consiglieri will be "made" before April, Xbox 360 and PSP owners may have to wait a while to make their bones. When asked about the release dates for the PSP and Xbox 360 versions of the game (the latter of which is conspicuously absent from the game's official Web site), EA declined comment.
