Worms Forts Under Siege announced

Sega Europe plans to unveil Team 17's next Worms strategy title for the PC, PS2, and Xbox at E3 next month. First screens inside.

Sega Europe has today confirmed that it will unveil the previously unannounced Worms Forts Under Siege at next months Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. Currently in development for the PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox at Team 17, the game is scheduled for release in Europe toward the end of this year.

"We've really enjoyed the experience of working with Team 17, and the simple-yet-thoroughly-addictive gameplay of Worms Forts Under Siege makes it a great way to spend your time, either on your own but especially with friends," said Matthew Woodley, European marketing director at Sega Europe. "Team 17 has managed to improve on a winning formula once again."

"Building on the strengths that have made the Worms games such a success, this latest installment sees the series taken to a new level of gameplay," added Debbie Bestwick, commercial director at Team 17. "With massive weaponry and fortifications, there's a whole new strategic element that really adds to the engaging gameplay and addictiveness of the Worms experience."

Worms Forts Under Siege will see players assuming command of a worm garrison while traveling through time to participate in epic battles. As they progress through the game, players will travel to locations such as ancient Egypt and Troy and will battle such varied characters as samurai and King Arthur's knights. The game will feature an arsenal of more than 30 weapons, and there will be numerous hidden maps, missions, challenges, and speech-banks for players to unlock.
