Nintendo takes it all with one of the best platformers ever, giving the Super Mario series another worthy son.

User Rating: 9.5 | New Super Mario Bros. DS
As one starts playing this game, it becomes immediately clear we are beholding a true successor of the old school Marios: its graphics are nice and appealing, its music is fun and its gameplay is addicting even to the non-adepts of the genre: the controls are sharp as in all great Mario games, the levels are balanced, never too difficult to get you out of the game but still not so easy you'll get bored.
Almost rebooting and surely innovating a saga whilst fully grasping its predecessors' true pros, New Super Mario Bros. for DS is arguably the best game for this console, with dozens of hours of pure, plain fun and an exciting, challenging two-player mode that never grows old, even if you're playing against the same person over and over again.
If the original Super Mario Bros. was the "killer app" when it came out, this is certainly the one Nintendo proudly presented to us for the DS.
And there's surely much to be proud of.
