Great to see a major publisher develop an entire flagship game that is 2d!
When the N64 came out and everything was going 3D, I never fully understood why developers always though "3d is better". Its like they just wanted to explore new territory instead of making a good game. Games completly change genres when they were converted to 3d(for instance, when they released a 3d megaman game). While Mario 64 was alright, I never truely appreciated it because it was 3d and didn't fully feel like a Mario game. I've always stuck to handheld platformers because i've always felt they were usually better.
Even if this game could be improved on. Its a step in an awesome direction and I can play it with my whole family and have fun. Kudos to Nintendo!
