Good alternative nostalgia

User Rating: 8 | NES Remix WIIU

I wasn't sure wether to buy this game or not when it came out. After reading and watching reviews, most of the reviewers would say "buy this game, it's good". Having played most of these games when I owned a NES sure helped in my decision to buy it.

To start off, my rating would be at 7.5 and I believe it has more positive points than negatives. It's a great concept (having to play a mini challenge of a game), it brings in new variety of gameplay to some classic games, it also can be competitive (seeing someone else's score from Miiverse about the same challenge), and it's highly addictive. You get to collect stars, and the more you collect, the more challenges are available. There are lots of challenges, and there are more challenges for the more popular games like Mario and Zelda compared to less popular games.

Negative points: I didn't understand why Nintendo chose some unpopular games, like Clu Clu Land, Pinball, Golf,... This said, did enjoy some of it, since some of these games I never played before. I did find it a little pricey and wished, like some others, that Nintendo would have released it on disc (what would have been awesome is to release a disc version, with full version of all the games, at a good price (around 30$). Some of the challenges are tough and if there's more than 1 act to complete a challenge, you must succeed every challenge within a time limit in order to get more than one star.

All things considered, love this concept, and although I did find it a little pricey, I don't regret buying it and enjoyed this collection of game challenges. Very addictive and it's a must buy for anyone who ever played the NES back in the day.

Will pick up NES Remix 2 when it comes out, especially with the games they'll have.Would love to see, in the future, remixes that also include 3rd party titles and SNES remix would also be great.
