A game that people who like neopets and people who dont like neopets can like.
Story:8/10
The story isint that hard to understand, but its hard to explain. Over 1000 years ago, there were 12 hero's of a land called Altador. One of these heroes known as the Darkest faerie, betrayed the other heroes and tryed to destroy altador. However, the Faerie queen, Queen Fyora, stopped her, turned her to stone, and sent her to the bottom of the sea. 100 years later, she finally manages to break free, and starts to spread her darkness across the land. At the same time a young farmer, who just becomes a knight named Tormund, and a young sorceress in training and the niece to the King of Brightvale, named Roberta, end up teaming up and trying to stop her. Told ya it was complicated to explain.

Well this is were the game is weak. The gameplay. Lets talk about the good parts first. The overworld is FREAKIN HUGE!!! This is a Zelda sized overworld full of neopets, towns, and secret areas. It will take a while to get from place to place. Their are lots of secret areas and passages, such as crypts (Which are actually kind of creepy), caves, and more. As you travel through a town, you might talk to someone in a shop, and they will give you a mission. Their are 3 different types of mission ranks. Gold missions are one you have to complete to progress through the story, Silver missions are missions that are optional, but you will get a reward for completing them, and Bronze missions arent really missions, but the location of a treasure chest. You will find little creatures called PetPets in the overworld too, which if you feed them, will follow you around and increase your attack, defense, or magic. Their are also little creatures in the game called motes, which can make your weapons of armor of a certain element, which is the ONLY good thing about the battle system. Now for the bad parts...oh yay -_-. The battle system is very weak, because all you do is swing your sword, or use your wand. You dont learn any special abilities, or magic spells that increase the depth of the gameplay.
Graphics:7/10
The graphics are okay, but they arent perfect. They have a 3D cartoon look to it, and are goot for the graphics of 2005, but arent as good looking as cartoon looking games of this time. Still the graphics are still very nice.
Sound:9.5/10
My favorite part of the game other than the huge overworld is the music. Most of the music is beautiful with a medieval feel to it, but some tracks are creepy, dark, or epic. Either way the music is fantastic and a soundtrack should have been released for this game! The voices feature some Hollywood voice actors from movies or TV shows. I cant go into detail on the voices though, but I will say that they are good voices for the characters and neraly none of them are annoying.

Neopets the Darkest Faerie is a great game, with an amazing overworld, amazing music, pretty good story, and likeable voices and characters, but the battle system needed to be fixed. If the battle system had been better, this game could have been nearly perfect. This is still a game worth picking up and trying out. Its a game that both fans of Neopets and people who dont like Neopets can like.
