Not well balanced, but great visuals...

I’d rather call myself not a racing enthusiast, nor NfS series insider. NfS Most Wanted 5-1-0 is a solid racing game for the most parts and surely a challenging game the more you succeed. The game consists of the usual single player modes like career and quick race, as well as Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure modes to compete against other racers. In career mode your goal is to climb the ranks in the “black list”, the list of most wanted illegal street racers and finally to become the #1. You start with your choice out of 3 cars in the beginning. In order to be able to race the next boss above your rank, you have to gain a certain level of respect. To gain respect points, money and to unlock upgrade parts you have to win a number of races. This works well for the first couple opponents, even with average driving skills. One thing that makes you more worry than the next boss race is the Police. These notorious cops start chasing you with a wanted level of 2, which comes fairly quick. Over speeding, crashes or driving too close to other vehicles will let you earn wanted levels up to 10, you’ll have to get rid off 3 police vehicles surrounding you. Cops are making this game really hard!

The presentation of this game is great, the graphics are crisp and visual effects such as reflections are brilliant, sound is well done for the most parts. The police horn during a chase in a tunnel is very well designed. On the other side the sound of the roaring engine of an Eclipse is very weak.

A couple more cars, tracks and some more detailed upgrading feature like in Midnight Club 3 would have made this nice game more complete.
