Some new features which make the game interesting, but brings the game down where gameplay is concerned.
The gameplay has bascially remained the same. The new feature that has been added are the new Superstar Attributes which consists of Scorer, Shooter, Playmaker, Stopper, High Flyer and Power. Each of these attributes really does affect the gameplay and can help you win some tight games. But sometimes it gets a bit too easy. You can just pass the ball to Amaré Stoudamire in the paint, and since his Superstar ability is power, he can almost every posession control the paint like that. This cause the game to be a bit boring. The Dynasty Mode has stayed the same and there isnt much to do in that mode, except unlock stuff from the NBA Store. The All-Star weekend is back as well and still remains to be one of the best features on the game. Especially the dunk contest which is detailed and flows in nicely. The gameplay during matces, can still be fun but still lacks something which makes the gamer want to play more. Most of the time this can be a fun game to play with 3-4 people. This can always add fun to the game as you are playing with actual people and not the CPU. Basically the gameplay has not changed in a big way and in my opinion has remained the same.
The graphics are still the same and there hasnt been a lot of improvement from the previous game. The arenas and players have been designed nicely. But the better graphics have to go to Sega's NBA 2K6. NBA 2K6 definitley offers better graphics and better gameplay. I think NBA Live's will most probably be done for this generation and will bring new oppurtunities for the franchise on the next generation. With better graphics, this can make the game have a better feel to it. Im no graphics whore, but i want my graphics to be on par with the graphics on the other systems. It shouldnt noticeably be less powerful then the other systems. But like i said before, the graphics in NBA Live 06 have been done nicely.
The sound is great as well. With the NBA Live soundtrack, there were a few songs which appealed to me, while the others were not so appealing. The commentating for the game is great! Marv Albert and Steve Kerr have done a good job with providing their voices for the game. Overall the sound part has been done fantastically.
I think NBA Live 06 hasnt been on par with its previous games but still is a nice addtion to the series. Look for the franchise to try and bring new additions to the next generation consoles. I think this is a rent first game. THis really depends if you are a HUGE basketball fan. You should get this game, and if you dont like NBA, i recommend that you rent first and then come to your conclusion about the game.
