One of the most beloved games of the 90's makes its return, does the new version live up to its name?

NBA Jam has always been one of my utmost favorite games of all time. It was one of the first games I ever experienced, besides the beloved Math Blaster of course. After hearing about the downfall of NBA Elite and the announcement that NBA Jam would make its way to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, i was pleased to see that the series would get a true HD overhaul. Popping the disc into my console brought back many memories from my childhood. Lighting the net on fire as the players slam some dunks in the net, hearing the Announcer( Yes, Tim Kitzrow is back) yelling Boom-Shaka-laka brought the love all back again. And then i realized just how shallow the game is. Yes, there are plethora of unlockables and several game modes, classic and remix modes, but overall, the new additions aren't all that interesting. A major plus tho is the fact it now has an online mode, which is loads of fun if you have friends to game it up with online.
Overall, the game retains the old school NBA Jam feel, but far too often it begins to feel more like NBA Live Arcade. Great gameplay, good memories, but shallow and at a 50 dollar price point, EA, you're asking way too much for what should have been a downloadable game only.
