One of the worst basketball games ever created. DO NOT SUPPORT 2k sports by buying this piece of junk. RENT IT!!
Where do I start with this piece of junk? Well, the gameplay is utterly terrible. The passing and momentum mechanics are some of the worst I've ever seen in a basketball game. The player movements are completely unrealistic. It's still plagued by the same animations that take over player characters, which 2K claimed they had fixed. The controls are awful (why do I have to hold down left button and wait 10 seconds to get a guy to set a pick?). The AI is completely unrealistic, as time after time after time, the CPU will get steals as if their players had eyes in the back of their heads, or blocks every shot you take near the hoop, while your teams players look and act like lost children on the court.
Now on to the most mind boggling part about the game. It's essentially a really really bad version of last years game. They made no roster updates (except adding Ricky Rubio, big whoop), and NBA 2K12 set a new standard for bad player ratings. These player ratings were obviously done completely randomly (Andre Iguodala rated the same or higher than many NBA super stars, almost all rookies from last year are rated in the low to mid 60s, regardless of how well they played, Dirk Nowitzki rated an 85......), and this is just a very very select example of the awful ratings in this game. Worst of all, there are no rookies on the roster! That's right people, NO ROOKIES.
The game also gets choppy about 5 minutes into every game, and you have to either start screen to stop it, or quit out.
The only saving grace of this game that stops it from being an all-time bad game, is the moderately good presentation.
Don't believe the hype people! Not sure what on earth gamespot was thinking rating this game an 8.5, however this is the same site that gives Madden a 7+ every year regardless of how bad the game actually is. DO NOT SUPPORT 2K SPORTS BY BUYING THIS GAME!!!!!!!!
