Almost Perfect...

The gameplay is out of this world. I finally see a reason to play as a superstar like Kobe or Wade as opposed to a free agent journeyman who has no name in the NBA world. This is the first NBA game where I actually strategize to get the ball down low in the paint and work some magic. Playing defense actually matters in this game. If you see a player making a move, you can actually react to what he is doing and expect results based on your actions and not learning what canned animation will take over. There are few things that I will touch on that I don't like but can somewhat live with. I have only played one greatest game and that was the sixers against the bucks. Being that I am from Roosevelt, the home of Dr. J, I had to unlock them first. I didn't care for the fact that the cheerleaders that come on the court during timeouts and such appeared to be the same cheerleaders that you see in the modern day games... Small right? I agree but I just figured I would throw it out there. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that when you draft new rookies into the association, they still don't appear as they should where NBA players pictures are. They still have that generic player silohette instead of a picture or in-game face. You can create a team but they are still called "home team" and they cut out much of the commentary instead of trying to pronounce a basic team name. In the blacktop mode, I don't like the camera options. I always play in the press view and that doesn't exist on blacktop. No more dunk contest either. I know most of my issues with the game aren't really big ones but I figure I would give a few things about it so the typical gamer like myself will have an idea of little things that you may run across that may cause you to be ataken by the 9.5 and 10 scores and talk of perfection. Gameplay wise, I only think about what can be done to make this better because truthfully speaking, I didn't think they would be able to top 2k11 gameplay wise and they did. So I can only imagine how they make 2k13 better. I feel that gameplay is about as good as this generation can get on a video game, now is the time to build on making soe other modes and blowing out the association mode. FYI - in the drills, they brought back fastbreak from college 2k and they made the dribble game fun and sensible. The training camp is completely worth spending the time with. Create a legend gives you a chance to become any player in the NBA as they are now and shape their career. This is one helluva basketball game that may be too much for a person who doesn't play sports games like that. But the way they made the game play this year, I might actually play online because the ways of exploiting other players have been removed and replaced by actual basketball skills and having to understand how to play the game of basketball, not just knowing how to cheat in video games.
