Best one out of the 3 Storm Games

User Rating: 8.5 | Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Storm Generation X360
I've always been a fan of the Naruto Franchise, yet haven't delved into the video game scene and jeez how I much I have missed.

My purchasing of the game actually stemmed from a thought of buy Storm 2. I went on XBL to tryout the demo of Storm 2 and saw one for Generations. It seemed like a good game, but I didn't see much of it. But then I started to read up on it, and I was like "Eh what the hell" I needed a fighting game to balance out the monotony of Fable, Gears, Halo repeat and as the 13th of March neared and hype for me was rising due to the Youtube videos of gameplay I found myself doing household chores to gain money (remember here I don't have a job).

Skip ahead to the 13th and I picked up the game at my local Best Buy and since it was my first Storm game it was perhaps the best. 70+ characters and 15 supports is much more than one could ask for (even though I mostly play Solo Matches and I only play as 10 characters) I have actually been playing this extensively since launch and was surprised to find out that I unlocked an achievement where you have to play 30 hours of the game within the first week. Now, the term "Generations" refers to the availability of characters from the original storyline of the Anime, Manga, what have you. My complaint about this, after some research of the previous two titles, is that they seem like direct ports from Storm 1 (in fact I think they are and you better "believe it" oh ho terrible Naruto joke).

What Generations does lack where it counts, is that it lacks the Free Roam Story of Storm 1 and 2, but then again this game is supposed to be like a NUNS2.5. The 70+ Characters bit is a bit of a misnomer as you have like 4 different Narutos, 5 Sasukes, and not to mention the Pre and Post Timeskip versions of various characters. Some
characters that are important to the story are support-only for no reason whatsoever. Anko and Kurenai should have been, in my opinion, playable characters and useless characters as Karin as Support Characters. You could always do away with the army of Sasukes polluting this game, (Seriously we don't really need anymore Emos in this game) Additions of a Young Kakashi and Obito from the Kakashi Gaiden and Zabuza and Haku from the originial Naruto story is a nice little surprise. Being a bit of a Kakashi fan (not a fanboy, I just appreciate the fact that he's one of the only character that actually look like a ninja) a Young Kakashi is a nice treat to play as when Adult Kakashi grows stale (Thank you CC2 ^_^)

As per gameplay, it is fast paced and intense as fighters generally should be. This ain't your average 2D sidescroller fighter kids, YOU CAN ACTUALLY MOVE AROUND THE STAGE!!!! (do take into account that it IS my first Naruto game since Clash of Ninja 2 on the GC which was 2D so this is revolutionary for me). I found the idea of being a BAMF, running around and pulling huge combos, thanks to the "combo cancel" button input, to be rather enjoyable. Not too much to say here because it's so simple a game to play.

So in closing, this game may well be worth the 60 dollar price tag if you are a Naruto fan. If you have any of the Previous Storm games, then you might as well wait for the price to go down or wait for a NUNS3. This is a pretty solid game all in all and I intend to play this more after I submit this review.
