It has been awhile with Storm 3 closing in on us how about we take a look at Generations.

I am a big Naruto fan i am not afraid to admit that. Having following the manga and show from the age of 8 i have alot of experience with most if not all of the games. So what is Generations?

Well it is a "Sequel" to Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 (insert no sh** joke here).
With Storm 2 improving alot from the original there were however issues belive me that game has HUGE issues. With that said CC2 promised that alot of the problems would be fixed and improved upon. With a huge Character roster how does the game hold up? Well were to begin. So let us start with the Story Mode.

Having to improve upon the best part of Storm 2 the Story they did a terrible job. Now i understand that they could not do much since the game covers 1 arc after the Pain arc which is were Storm 2 ended. Instead of giving us side missions and a world to goof around in they completly removed that and gave us stock footage that does not match the scence of key moments. That would have been fine had it not been so rushed. The game is split up into different story segments Naruto (Time skip) gets his own which starts at the beginning of Shippuuden and concludes with his fight against Sasuke (Time Skip) same for Sasuke with Naruto being his final. However each story part are roughly 1 hour long or less depending how fast you complete them. There are around 10 different stories to playthrough sounds fine but all of them give you nothing unless you know the story. The story slaps you in the face with names and plot elements randomly, new fans of Naruto will not know who anyone is or given a reason to well give a s****. Instead of having a world to explore we have Animated cutscenes..... they look good? But why? There is no reason to, it proves that they did not pay any attention to the story at all. Killer Bees "rap" is not funny, not good it serves no purpose he has no reason to be part of the story. The Story mode fails at being "dramatic" or well good which is unfortunate.

Now let us jump into the game play. Dear lord what happened!? Nothing has been improved here. Combat is still shallow, characters are broken if not worse due to the new Substitution bar. Let me talk about that. This "thing" is annoying because it can (and will) bite you in the ass. Since the Sub bar does not deplete chakra anymore instead being divided into bars that deplete whenever you press L2 ( may be mistaken) you have to manage it properly, fine but alot of characters (Sasuke Hokage arc, Danzo, Masked man all projective and puppet users in specific) are able to deplete more than one Sub bar from you with their Jutsu which sucks if you are playing online (which i will get to). Not just that it recovers as well HERE is were it will screw you over 9 times out of 10 it never recovers for me which forces me into a situation were i get pummled or if you find F jokes funny F*** you in the A** AANNNDD it will sometimes teleport you in the air not away from harm but it will keep you in the damagezone that will deplete one if not all of your bars which is unfair seeing as some characters have that sort of jutsu that lingers longer on the field than others.

New to the game are the ability to cancel you're moves into another which sound cool but again because of that each match will start with you and you're opponent running into each other and beating the ever loving S*** out each other untill one of you run out of SUB bars which leaves you open to a serious A** Whoppin. Before you send me mails, Yes you can stop that if you are smart and utilize you're Supports correctly. But it is clear that it is a major problem. It does not help much that people at this time spam projectile which i can't really complain about. But for what it is it does give a bit of strategy untill you enter the online mode.

The online mode has been improved with a tournament mode as well as more info cards that offer a slight boost depending on what you choose but this is so minor that you hardly notice it. A endless mode has been added as well but enough of the modes what is the online mode like? Well it is fine if you can connect to someone i am not joking i am constantly being disconnected before i even manage to press OK when i am connected to a player. Other than that it is actually good assuming you're opponent does not spam and actually tries to well, play the game. Lag is a problem if you're connection is not weak or broken otherwise it should work fine most of the times.

Music in the game is what you would expect it is good, really good. New tunes have been added to new stages as well as in the story mode. Some of the tunes have been taken from Ninja Impact but i don't mind as long as it sounds fine.

The game does not last long they do offer you a lenghty survival mode that is tedious and boring after awhile. A tournament mode that will last you a while if you are into it as well as a versus for 1p vs com and 1p vs 2p. There is the shop were you buy things like ninja tools, titles and more which serves as a tiny side activity.

Despite my **** the game makes few stepes forward but to many flaws hold me from recommending it unless you are a die hard Naruto fan. If you have no experience i suggest you buy Storm 2 or wait for Storm 3 this game makes it so difficult to describe unless you have played it so some of the things that i have said might come of as weird but belive me when i say that the game is a disapointment.
