Beautiful adition to the series that brings the Napoleonic era to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing through Napoleon's Italian campaign before tacking on the world for "Liberté, égalité, fraternité"! Likewise the later Spanish - Ulcer add-on campaign. The pros are many, the cons few, which I now list.

Being an avid history geek, I was however disappointed that certain units, whilst beautiful, seemed to lack attention to historical detail and were depicted incorrectly, not least of which was the renown Grenadiers of the French Old Guard. Whilst to most these oversights did nothing to detract from the title, to me, they proved a constant irritant until such time that the TW community amended the situation with mods. With so much public information available on the era, I believed such artistic license was neither desired nor warranted.

Diplomacy, whilst improved, still lacked a depth and feel that gave the player a sense of fighting anything other than a bot that just acted increasingly belligerent the higher the level of difficulty. There is no political manoeuvre, no subtlety, no real sense of self preservation, just a build up of forces before launching them at the player.

Finally, the other aspect that detracted a little from the historic epic scale of the Napoleonic era was the scale of battle. Unfortunately, this was something that CA could not have avoided given the reality of current PC processing.
