The potential is there, but EA will need to put more effort into 07.
Another negative is the announcers. Mike Patrick is terrible; he sounds like he's learning English and repeats the same phrases over and over. The color of Kyle Peterson would be good if we could ever hear it, but he says maybe 10 sentences during the course of the game. I read someone's review saying it flowed nicely, but I don't know where they got that from. When a play-by-play guy says, "The pitcher is making the start today," and the color responds with, "He certainly is, Mike," that is not flowing at all. Also, what's the purpose of creating a player and having a feature to change the pronunciation of his name if the announcers and PA never says the names?!
The other two things are the absolute void of a celebration when you win the World Series and the lack of sortable team stats or rankings. For the celebration, the players do the same thing when they win the conference tournaments and regionals. On top of that, the announcers never even say they won the "World Series" or the "Regionals", Patrick just says, "They won the series."
The stats thing isn't a huge deal, but I'd like to be able to see where I rank in the nation in runs scored, ERA, etc.
With all this said, the positives are: The gameplay; The atmosphere and sounds of the college game; The option to playing with wood bats (ala pro baseball); The recruiting (which could be improved to be like NCAA Football, but is still good); The sim options that allow you to enter and exit a game at relatively any point; Coach mode; and the plethora of awards they dole out.
I love baseball games; MVP 03 and 04 were two of the best ever behind Baseball Stars on NES. So I'll play this game until the next one comes out because it's still fun and there' s nothing else to play.
