Maybe not the best adventure Musashi goes on, but one which will keep those persevering players happy to the last minute

User Rating: 8 | Musashi: Samurai Legend PS2
Samurai Legend Musashi is Musashi's comeback to the ps2, with a whole new story and adventure to match. I admit, I was a bit disapointed because of several things. For one, Musashi is now a samurai legend, yet still seems to be a kid at heart. The game's general mood is for a 9-14 year old, no further. Also, it had that "Eternal Mana" battle system, which sucks for Musashi's style, except its much better laid-out in this game.

-The graphics were good, but at times the detail seemed too sharp, and the colors unbalanced, especially when Mushashi's missions are attempted during the daylight. During the night, however, it all came together finely. The game'"Lobby" so to speak, the place you teleport to after finishing a mission, was designed to use nature's looks in creating a paradise, and this goes well with the elemental sword retrieval missions one must complete in order to advance the story. The best cutscene is the game's opening one, that starts before starting the game.

-The story was charming enough; you're to save a princess, but eventually end up saving more that that(their world). However, no real feelings appear on Musashi's side untill the battle of the copies takes place, when he finally explodes on his foe and expresses his feelings towards the princess and the whole situation of him being ther. Good thing that kid had lots to say, or else it would've been a bore.

-The game's main point is in its battles; instense battles that challenge the player's knowledge of elements, sword combos, and split-second reactions. The speed of variation one has to adapt to as one alternates between swords and thinking strategies is staggering, but at least there's the motorcyle part of the gameplay which helps ease the player's mind. It's fun to just take off once in a while. The game itself is a semi-platformer semi-action/adventure game, and this encourages the player to keep playing, especially when you don't know that there's one REAL tough boss at the end if you're not quick on your feet. You can also duplicate enemies' moves, something real neat if you got the time and patience.

Overall equation:

Graphics: 7/10
Storyline: 8/10
Battle-Engagement: 9.4/10
Duration: Short.
Playability Rate: just once.
