In the year 2004, there will plenty of Fighters that makes the MK series look terrible! However, going 10 years back, MK was the game that defined the fighting game genre. Why? the formula is pretty simple; take the best fighting game (Street Fighter 2 turbo), add really nice digitized graphics, and finally add plenty of blood and bone crushing fatalities...you get Mortal Kombat! MK on the Genesis the best version out of the two (SNES, Genesis); graphics are nearly identical, sound and control elements are the same...but the Genesis version has blood, where the SNES version only has sweat! This was the game that raised "eyebrows" for politicians and parents, this was also the game that pretty much set the standards for fighting games in the future!
