This 3D fighter is good enough but lacks immersion...

At first glance when you look at the cover of mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe it looks and sounds like a good idea and a good fighting game. But this game lacks some serious details, much of which are lacked within most fighting games anyway. But that shouldn't be an excuse, especially when dealing with a game that brings in a huge comic-book franchise of heroes to come and play with Mortal Kombat classics. To most, well at least to me, this should matter, as thousands of people's favorite DC heroes are in this game, and I would hope that they would care how they were represented. First of all this game looks great, ranging from the cool foregrounds on the arenas, the character themselves, and just overall the whole thing which is a plus for representing the characters. Moving to combat mechanics this Mortal Kombat is no different than its brethren, though I did notice that all the characters seemed to have the same amount of combos each. This was kind of disappointing since I have always had a sort of label for Mortal Kombat and its horrifyingly long branch combos that you could use to kick some serious whoop ass. Even though the game did offer a "Kombo Challenge" it was horrible, the Kombo Challenge gives you 10 trials for each character each trial gives you a combo to do shown on the top of the screen, the one major problem I had and have read about is the fact that some of the simplest combos don't even register or are very confusing on the timing concept. Next, the story is very boring since you pretty much know what's going to happen, you and that guy are going to fight and then a cut-scene. Lastly, I'm very angry that Mortal Kombat made this game like most of its other recent games, 3-D. Why? I have no friggin' idea, the fact that it was complicated for me to learn how to quicken my reflexes a whole different way from the way I learned from my grass-roots in MK Trilogy it was just very unnecessary. Very lastly, I am pretty dissapointed that there weren't a lot of characters, and there wasn't a Kreate-a-Fighter mode or Krypt and if you don't know what these are you probably shouldn't get this game, this game is more for just fans of Mortal Kombat and/or DC Universe and doesn't offer a whole lot of immersive wanna-play material.
