A decent game to add to the Kollection, but nothing more

User Rating: 7 | Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe X360
I don't want to call this game a "komplete" failure, because it's not. In the long run, it makes a great addition to any DC or Mortal Kombat fan's "kollection". But at the end of the day, this game is riddled with things that are bound to tick you off. From the lack of alternate costumes, to the strenuous difficulty, to the abundance of overpowered characters, 'MK vs DC Universe' is a disappointing game that manages to pull you in the ring for a few rounds nonetheless.

Pros:
- Original story & concept
- Characters are faithful to the source material on both sides
- Fully rendered versions of memorable locations
- Watching Deathstroke impale someone and blow their brains out never gets old

Cons:
- Punishing difficulty, even for veteran gamers
- Total lack of alternate costumes or DLC in general
- Not much replayability outside of your basic achievements
- Some unique game features feel half-baked
- Fatalities are nearly impossible to pull off

I'm not going to say that the fact that the gore has been turned off is a Con, because it's not a bad thing. I will take a crossover like this any day, even with some sacrifices. I will say, however, that the game would have probably been given a whole number score more if the gore was there. Just saying.

I know I said I have spent 40 hours plus on this game and still call it 'uninspired'. That sounds a bit hypocritical, I know, but trust me. The problem with this game is the fact that it draws you in so easily with the DC characters, but turns that thrill into madness during the actual gameplay. This is a difficult fighting game; it's not difficult because it's deep or complex, it's difficult because the game simply cheats way too much.
- When you start Klose Kombat, the game knows which button you're going to press half the time or more, in order for it to flip on you.
- A good portion of the characters are loaded with projectile attacks, preventing other characters (like Wonder Woman) from getting within distance.
- ^^Building off of this one, some characters are simply too fast or overpowered. The Flash REALLY is the fastest character in the game, and the computer controlled Flash will literally run circles around you and beat you to a pulp. Don't expect to get the upper hand on characters like The Flash, Superman, or DeathStroke. Each of them possess unique things that make them able to destroy you, whether it be Super-Speed, guns, or all of the powers combined of Superman.

The good things about this game are just the simple ones. The graphics are good, and it's a fully featured fighting game. I can't reccomend this game to anyone who isn't prepared for a butt whooping, because you will definitely receive one. You can buy it for as low as bargain bin prices, so I would certainly recommend you give it a shot if only to add it to your Kollection as a fun item of fan memorabilia; after all, you have to support your peeps! Just don't expect much in the way of quality.
