ED BOON messed up on this one. He didn't give the classics the form of justice they so rightfully deserved.

User Rating: 5 | Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection PS3
I am not a huge MK fan; however I do appreciate the old classics since I got MK 2 and 3. Many of the arcade versions released on discs wasn't really good, because of annoying glitches. I thought this collection was going to fix many of those problems. This version is a lot better than the MK arcade games on the Midway Treasures disk; however there are some new problems that reared their ugly heads this time.

Here are the problems that I noticed so far:

Problem 1:
At the end of every match the top part of the background turns black. And this happens even when a fatality isn't performed.

Problem 2:
Still no training mode. It would have really been nice to have that, so people could really work on improving their skills.

Problem 3:
Some of the characters in MK 3 Ultimate are not available at the start of the game.

Problem 4:
You can't invite more than one person to a lobby. Now that is really sad.

Problem 5:
There are no special online modes for MK 3 Ultimate.
It would have been cool to be able to invite 4 to 8 people to the other game modes that are present in the single game. You know, the 2 vs. 2 and 8 player tournament mode. That would have really made this game more interesting.

Problem 6: THE BIG PROBLEM
The online netcode is pathetic. The game lags horribly. There is no fluid motion at all. Both players can have a perfect connection and still have a no smooth movement. Even playing the basic Mortal Kombat 1 game online was bad.

Final Thoughts:
The game looks as if it was put together just to make a few extra bucks; because the online mode is really depressing. Plus I wanted the single player mode to be flawless with no graphical glitches. There isn't a whole lot of good things to say about this port, because it feels like it was slopped together like a 1 dollar McDonald's Cheeseburger.

This game gets a 5 out of 10. It would have been worse if I didn't have fun playing the single player games. ED BOON did a great job with MK 9; however this fell short. You would think ED would have did the classic MK games more justice by ensuring the collection was the best it could possibly be.
