Finally a MK sequel.

"Thousands of years ago in a battle with the fallen elder god known as Shinnok, I was responsible for the death of an entire civilization. To rid all realms of Shinnok's menace I waged a war that plunged the earth into centuries of darkness and banished Shinnok to a place called the Netherealm. Now after Shao Kahn's defeat at the hands of the earth warriors, Shinnok has managed to escape his confines of the Netherealm. The war is now being fought once again, and this time it can be won by mortals."

3 years after the release of Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat 4 was released. After Midway completely ignored doing a sequel by releasing UMK3, Mk Trilogy, and even a MK spin off, they finally made a sequel.

MK4 had a strange story to it. The game itself was somewhat strange. This was the first 3D game in the actual MK series. The graphics are very well done, and luckily the game doesn't cut down on all the blood and gore we all saw in the previous games.

MK4 featured 15 fighters to choose from. Raiden made his long awaited return. He hasn't been playable since MK2. Lui Kang returns. Reptile retuns but with a whole new look (and his look is bad). Johnny Cage, Jax, and Scorpion all return. Sonya Blade returns, as so does Sub-Zero. Most characters ude there old moves. Goro can be playable with a code, and his huge body moves smoothly. Though one major downfall is the "main boss". The final boss in the game is Shinnok, but he's also a playable character. The other new characters are Kai, Jarek, Reiko, Fujin, Tanya, and one my favorite MK characters ever, Quan Chi.

The game features Arcade Mode, Team, Endurance, Tournament and Practice. So theres a lot to do, and like previous MK games, this is great to play with multiplayer.

Overall, MK4 is a great game, and in my opinion is better than MK3, UMK3, and MKT. Though doesn't live up to MK 1 and 2. But if your a MK fan, and never played this before, I recommend you to play it. If your not a MK fan, the game is really nothing special.
