Mortal Kombat 4 is a good fighting game that continues the epic saga of mortals fighting in a Tournament to save the Earth from the forces of Outworld. This time around, the Big Boss is Shinnok, a fallen elder god that seems to be a combination between Shang Tsung & Shao Khan. The 2nd Boss is Gorro, he's back from the original game & so are the scary trees from MK2:) A new feature introduced is the use of weapons which is pretty cool. From all the new characters introduced, one stands out in front in the person of Quan Chi, he is the Highlight of this game. There are 5 difficulties, from Very Easy to very Hard & also 5 Fighting Columns:Novice, Beginner, Warrior, Master & Master II.The graphics are horrible but it has interesting cut-scenes.The gameplay is not so great, it feels rusty & compared to the first 3 Games, this one is better than MKI but inferior to MKII & MKIII.Also, compared with the other fighting games on the PS1 of that period, Soul Blade & Tekken 2, MK4 is vastly inferior. The music at the character select screen is impressive as ussual, remains in your head for a long time. There are 5 modes in this game-Arcade, Tournament, Endurance, Team & Practice. My favourite fighter is as ussual Liu Kang, i prefer him over the many freaks that this game series has to offer. Bottom Line:"-Finish Him!"
The Good: Great graphics, smooth controls, gory and brutal Fatalities, well balanced The Bad: Weak roster, awkward animations, weapons still feel kind of useless Mortal Kombat 4 was probably the most carefully watc... Read Full Review
