It could have been better.

User Rating: 7 | Mortal Kombat 3 ARC
A long time ago I used to play all three Mortal Kombats for Sega Genesis. Then my old Genesis broke (but I have a new one now) so I was going to order this game and MK2 on ebay but then I bought Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for GameCube which included this and MK 2 along with other old Midway game. Since the MAT2 version is a direct port of the Arcade version I am review this game for the Arcade.
Graphics: When you go back and look at it today the graphics ain't very impressive but for it's time it's not that bad. But somehow I thought Mortal Kombat 2 looked better. Maybe because MK3 looked a little more cartoonish. Rating: 7/10

Gameplay: The gameplay can be fun here like in the last two MK games and the combo system is a nice addition so I really don't have much to say except point out it's flaws: The flaw with this game is that the fatalities are too hard to do and they give you very little time to do them. I rarely get to do a fatality in this game. Same with babalities, brutalities etc. Another problem with this game is that the computer can be way too cheap even on the easiest difficulty (I can set the difficulty on the MAT2 version). You may notice this a lot while fighting Motaro and Shao Kahn. And also they give you very little time to type in the new Kombat Codes featured in this game. Making it almost impossible to do. Rating: 6/10

Value: Due to the difficulty you'll be playing this a lot. And you would spend a long time just to do some of those fatalities or animalities which can be fun as long as you don't spend all day trying it. Rating: 8/10

Overall: This game is decent but Mortal Kombat 2 is better and it's rare for the sequel of a fighting game to be not as good as the last game. This game also have been remade as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 then it was remade again as Mortal Kombat Trilogy. If you have a SNES or a Genesis then you're better off looking for UMK3 instead or the original MK 3 and if you have a Playstation or a Saturn you're better off looking for MK Trilogy since they add more characters and features.
