Is that the best you can do?

i was a huge fan of Mortal Kombat 2 so i also bought this one. Videogames were even more expensive back then. this was a learning experience for me: don't waste your money!
In MK3 there are a couple of new features:
first there is the running button. you hold down the shoulder button and press forward. that way your character runs into your opponent and you can start buttonsmashing; there goes the gameplay.
second you can now make combo's. the idea is ok, but for a lot of characters the combos include shoulder buttons and it is almost impossible to press them at the right time, so most combo's are limited to a few punches, making them not effective.
third, this time you have almost no time to perform a fatality and the codes to perform them are made much more difficult. you'll only see a fatality when a computer-adversary does one.
finally it is now possible to smash opponents through ceilings and continue the fight with a different background. this is fun.
because i payed a lot of moneyfor this game i did play it a lot, but mostly against the computer and not against my friends, who rather played part 2.
there are a bunch of new characters, Striker is the best of the new ones, he has a baton, pistol and grenades. Motaro is a very good sub-boss and defeating Shao Kahn, the man with the hammer, is stil satisfying. Maybe evnmore satisfying then part 2, because you can now defeat him with combo's and kicks. In part 2 it was only block, kick, block, kick.
It's a shame about the running button and the fatalities, don't they playtest these things before release?
