An Old Game Finds New Life On The Nintendo Switch Console!

While I pretty much know the vast majority of major video games that have been released in North America since 1985, I'm ashamed to admit that the time period between 1972 to before 1985 is rather spotty in terms of my video game knowledge. While some arcade games are easy to know when they first debuted, I know there are plenty of video games out there that I haven't heard of, yet alone played. Thankfully, with the Nintendo Switch, it has allowed me the unique opportunity to track down some more elusive arcade video games. And although this video game is kind of an old one from 1982, it still packs a decent challenge. It's one of those video games that's easy to learn, but MUCH harder to master! In "Moon Patrol", all you have to do is steer a Moon Buggy on the Moon. Avoid the pits, rocks, rolling boulders, alien flora, enemy space cars, and alien spaceships shooting at you, and either shoot back, jump, slow down, speed up, or avoid the enemy fire depending on the situation! There are ten different terrain levels, divided into 50 sections. Every five sections is a complete stage. If you're lucky and/or skilled enough to reach the end of the stage under a certain amount of time, you'll receive bonus points based on how many seconds you beat the average time it takes to beat the stage. The 8 bit graphics are pretty decent, with nice music, sound, and controls, and difficulty that can be tough, but it's still fair. Even though you can theoretically still play the game after beating 50 sections, the game simply loops you back to the beginning of the second half of the game, and only makes the enemies faster and harder to hit. Still, if you want to play one of the original arcade games from the first great era of arcade video games, there's no better time to do it than with this version available on the Nintendo Switch! It is a very interesting retro experience! Enough said, true believers!
