First time Monster Hunter player... Awesome game and a great title for the PSP

User Rating: 9.4 | Monster Hunter Freedom PSP
So, my PSP was gathering dust and was hardly used because there wasn't many games that grabbed my attention but then, some reason I wanted this game...

I bought MonsterHunter Freedom earlier this week, shoved it in my psp, possibly waited and took a good few minutes to actually get to play the game...

So, the games loaded, I'm finally in-game...

You start in your house and you've got a chest with 1 of each basic weapon class inside, apart from the dual swords, I pick the double handed sword which is called a 'GreatSword'

I leave the house and have a look around, a few shops and a few people, nothing interesting to be honest.

I find an old man, talk to him, it seems he has quests for me... I start a quest called ' Gathering Meat ' , pretty simple newbie quest...

So, i left to do the quest, you load in a small camp with two chests, red and blue, at start of every quest there's items inside the blue and the red is for delivering items, which in this case, meat.

I run to the next area, a small cinematic starts, after it ends, i run down the small slope to find some creatures, which are gray and blackish, with a spiked tail. I draw my sword, and attack one, the greatsword is slow so combos must be used to keep your momentum going.

Once the creature died, i carved its corpse by pressing circle, I got ' Raw meat ' the second carve i got the same, so i delivered it to the red chest as mentioned earlier...

After that there is about 5 quests that get you accustomed to the games basics...

And it leaves you wanting more...

Since then, i've put 23 hours into Monster Hunter Freedom, and enjoyed it alot aswell with mixed frustrated parts :)

Okay, if you decided to read that then here is some opinions of the game...

The gameplay is basic yet enjoyable and rewarding, start a quest, gather something, kill something, deliver something, but you're always rewarded.

Grab a quest to kill a Kut-ku, your first Wyvern in the game, and carve its corpse for scales which are then used to create armour.

I must say the graphics are really good for the PSP and i've seen NO slowdowns so far nothing to complain about at all.

Loading times can be a little frustrating but, with the quality of the game, it's understandable.

Sound, is nice, music, creatures, everything, top notch.

The value of this game is high, I've got more hours gameplay out of this (23hrs as stated before) for £35 than some Xbox 360 games which are £50, and i've only just started doing 3star missions...

If you're curious about this game, but enjoy, games that reward skill and a style that is similar to Phantasy Star, try it... ;)
