Good Baseball Action On The PS1

User Rating: 8 | MLB 2002 PS
Looking back on baseball games released on the PS1, the developers at 989 Sports really shaped MLB 2002 to a defined, solid baseball game that's well worth the trip. The controls are solid and easily accessable, the graphics look great for a PS1 game released in the early 2000's, Vin Scully and Dave Campbell do a great job with the commentary, and the background interactions (i.e: the peanuts/hot dogs/red hots vendor) capture the atmosphere of a baseball game. Frequently, you'll hear snippets of "Taking Care of Business" and "Woolly Bully" throughout the game and "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" in the form of country music playing on the main menu screens, aside from the comical organ music playing at times; not bad for incorporating music on a PS1 game at the time. The funniest thing I noticed was when you're controlling fielder and when you run into another fielder, they'll grunt and fall over (Facepalm apply directly to the forehead for the manager). If you want solid baseball action for the PS1, MLB 2002 is a definite must-have.
