Mirror's Edge, the repetitive the beautiful.

Mirror's Edge. My guide into the world of Parkour. Stunning visualizations and back-drop graphics makes your experience more humble as you're gliding, jumping and vaulting through-out a picture-perfect world with corruption under it's belly. As soon as I put the disc into my 360 and heard the ambient yet soft spoken music on the menu screen, I knew I was seconds away from engaging in a fun, over-the-top experience. Faith (the name of the protagonist) is labeled a "Runner". They're messengers and communicators whom possess a wide range of Parkour abilities while dodging authorities in the midst of delivering important information to other Runners. Right off the bat, Faith was doing just that. I was a little apprehensive at first, looking at the disgustingly tall skyscrapers knowing that i'm going to have to traverse those ungodly buildings, but the game has the word Edge in it, so I was already prepared for what the game had in mind. Merc, whom is your guide throughout the game if you will, directs you to your current objective and easy routes that Faith can traverse through. These items are marked in red be it pipes, ramps, ladders or soft landing pads to absorb impact from a great height. The voice acting however wasn't really Mirror's strong point, so whenever Merc began to speak, I just went on my own way. Eventually you'll get there on your own by finding the highlighted objects. Faith is equipped with an excellent melee system. Although not a strong shooter game, Mirror's Edge certainly doesn't fail when it comes to busting a few agent's heads open with a quick jab and a kick to the knee caps. Disarming your enemies is another neat feature to the game where you can approach somebody with a gun (meaning just about everybody) and when the weapon turns red for a quick instant, you have the opportunity to yank it right out of their hands with a nice upper-cut following. Now since the game is focused on just freestyle gameplay from point a to point b, there really aren't anymore gaming tips to be encountered. Once you have endured the overwhelming obstacles and the not-so-intelligent AI, the campaign is over in a flash. Mirror's Edge does provide Free Runs and Time Trials modes respectively, so you may play those, but they are just areas and re-runs of the story mode.

As Mirror's Edge is a beautifully rendered game with awe inspiring eye candy, the short lived campaign and repetitive gameplay makes this title worth renting, but since it's just barely $20 at your local gamestop, why not pick it up, beat it and give it as a hand-me-down.
