A weak end to a weak season

User Rating: 6 | Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two - Episode 5: Above and Beyond XONE

Going into the final episode of the season, I wasn't really expecting much. The story had dealt with a lot of issues (lack of character development, lack of a quality villain) and it really felt like I was just going through the motions without really experiencing anything. This season really did not do a good job at keeping your interest or make you invested in seeing things through. Also, The lack of quality moral choices really dampers things as well.

So at the start of the episode, Things are a bit rough but then it all slowly comes together. All the characters you meet throughout the season kind of come out of the work and all kind of lend a hand in helping defeat the villain as well as dealing with the aftermath of it. It was pretty cool to see that happen. I am still disappointed with the weak moral choices but I've grown to accept that it just wasn't in the cards this season.

The action sequences were kind of eh, Not all that interesting. It was really more interesting just to see how the story would play out at the end of it all. I still feel like they really under-used the Admins and their entire backstory. I really wish they focused more on that and how the betrayal of one of their own really hurt the group. And it doesn't help that the one good admin was totally left out of this episode and doesn't get that bitter-sweet reunion with the friend who betrayed her. But at the end of the day, The ending was decent enough where I wasn't totally unsatisfied with it.

Overall: 6/10
The story just wasn't there this season, It really wasn't. Instead, We are treated to filler in the shape of repetitive action sequences that just fail to add any real excitement to the game. So we are treated to a final episode that thankfully ends this weak season but not on a high note.
