Nearing the end

User Rating: 6 | Minecraft: Story Mode Season Two - Episode 4: Below the Bedrock XONE

Going into this episode, I wasn't really expecting much as the previous episodes were not that impressive to me. This episode is no different. We are a given a surprise appearance by an old character at the beginning of the episode but then he immediately takes his leave and isn't heard from again for the rest of it. Which is kind of disappointing because he was a real gem from the first season and would have made me more excited to play through the episode with.

Storywise, There's a bit more going on than previous episodes. We see a little more character depth with Petra but like previous episodes, Every character is relatively ignored to push forward the very weak plot. You spend the entire episode trying to escape the Underneath, Introduced to quite a few more one-off characters (although a few tag-along for the next episode) and that's about it. Once again, We are given a bit more story behind the Admins and their fractured friendship but it's very limited and not explored any further than what it was in the previous episode. But I've already given enough shade on the story that I am kind of tired talking about it.

So moving along from the story, Once again we throw in a few uninteresting action sequences and quick time events and that's about it. Also, This episode was so weirdly paced. The first half of the episode was very long and the second half was over and done with as soon as it started. Within 5 minutes I had the achievements for both chapter 5 and chapter 6, The only reason I had to wait for the long cutscene to finish. And once again, The moral choices mean nothing and don't really affect the end result of the game.

Overall: 6/10
This episode could have been so much better if the story was given more depth and fleshed out. This would have been the episode to push character depth and exploration.
