One step foreword two steps back

User Rating: 6.5 | Might & Magic: Heroes VI PC
Heroes VI Reviewed With update 1.1.

The story begins with some murders and you as the only duke is trying to avenge for the dead.

The story is neither gripping nor exciting, but we will move on with that.

The game offers a campaign mode and skirmish mode along with a multiplayer mode.

The campaign mode will let you slowly progress and learn the new features the game has to offer. Nothing fancy here.
You gather resources build an army and eliminate some foes found on the map and so on.

The races and the monsters are new and you will find yourself experimenting and learning which unit is suits the most in particular battle.

The hero in game is improved vastly. Adding him exp points each level to spend on various spells and might and making the hero unit a huge factor in battle.

The skirmish mode is lacking of maps. You'll only find about ten of them.
The game also lacks basic options such as to skip cut scenes during the battles.

The graphics are pretty and detailed and the battles are smooth.

Despite of the updated version I found a lot of glitches, bugs and technical issues. Like disappearance of our own castle, freezing camera, disappearance of the cursor and the most annoying when you can't get your hero grab some resources lying on the ground.
There is no indication of how far are you from some point on the map.
I remember in previous games there you could know how much turns it will take you to get to certain place.

The game is more like another mod to Heroes V then a new game, certainly a drawback then progress and it is not as addictive as it was once.

In conclusion: Same Heroes but with new cover and new box. You won't find anything new or interesting except new races.
The company couldn't bring back the game to its glory time and for now you should stick to Heroes III as yet the best Heroes.

The Score 6.5

Move on!
