Fun game, once you get the hang of the controls. Well designed impressive free-roam environment.

Bought this game over two years ago but haven't had time to play it until this summer. Fun game once you get used to the controls and follow the tutorial. The difficulty progression is just right. Not too hard, not too easy. The city of Los Angeles is amazingly recreated. There is a lot of traffic and the cars react to your driving. It is very impressive. Much better than EA's Need For Speed series. Cars are easy to control (maybe too easy) and the motorcycle is a lot of fun once it is unlocked towards the end of the game. There are no cut scenes and basically no story. The game consists of a series of challenges and races. There is a percentage statistic that helps you track your progression in the game. Once you get near 80% of LA career you unlock the Tokyo career. The Tokyo map is much smaller than LA. It still looks nice, but clearly is not as nice as LA. It also felt like that there was less traffic in Tokyo. LA and Tokyo maps are just a part of the real life city. LA and Tokyo are a LOT bigger in real life. The game gets you hooked and I finished the LA career (beating the last "boss" and unlocking the Audi R8) 96% and am 8% through Tokyo career. It would have been nice to have video or "reward" for completing the LA career, but there isn't. Still it is a fun game worth playing.
